2011 Theme * Bedazzled Hazard Disaster Blasters

Our Mummer Comic Theme is a Natural Disaster Dance Off and we will be moving and shaking together as Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Volcanoes, and Hurricanes. We have been building off the illustration above to create costumes, floats and choreography.

Narrative

The sun rises and its a beautiful day in Philadelphia.

  • Earthquake * CRASH * DANCE * BANG * CRUSH.
  • Tornado * SPIN * TWIRL * WOOSH * DANCE.
  • Volcano * BURST * ERUPT * DANCE * BLAST.
  • Hurricane * DANCE * CHAOS * STORM.

Costume Ideas

Team Earthquake/Volcano
This team will start out with a green/brown earthy outfits with some members erupting into volcanos.

  • Earthquake * BIG bottom costume. Shakes with each step.
  • Volcano * Brown bottom, red explosive top.

Team Tornado/Hurricane
This team is also our Color Guard and will be performing with flags.

  • Tornado * Spinning top costume. Lots of extra stuff stuck in the costume…mailbox…cows…
  • Hurricane * light flowing LARGE costume.

Float & Bike Ideas

Our brigade is going carbon free this year and we are working with Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby participants and ANYONE who wants to ride a bike powered sculpture in the parade. We are open to any Natural Disaster Themed Sculptures. Here are some ideas that could work:

  • Earthquake Shaking Mountain
  • Tornado Tricycle
  • Volcano Eruption or Lava Flow
  • Hurricane Storm Cloud
  • Lightning Bolt Bike
