Too Much Riding On That


Watching this video gave me chills. I’ve seen Sufjan perform before during the Seven Swans and Illinois tours. For Seven Swans he managed to hush the First Unitarian Church basement crowd performing in the same wings he is wearing in this video. For Illinois his stage performance expanded to album related cheers between each songs. This Age of Adz tour builds on this momentum and delivers on performance and spectacle. The album is incredible but I never imagined these visuals when listening.

I also thought about the lead footed crowds that probably attended these shows. Also thought about how fun it is dancing with your friends. This is the opportunity that parades provide. A freakout with friends. From the individual performers to the groups to the full parade to the spectators, community grows and for that moment you are collaborating on culture. Ok ok, maybe this neon tape performance and coffee on an empty stomach got me too excited. I just want to make something with the Philadelphia community that is as fun as the video below:
