I got my start in mumming four years ago when Sonja Trauss and I started the Vaudevillains New Year’s Brigade. I had a studio at Space 1026 at the time and we used my shared studio space, to my studio mate’s dismay, and the gallery for our sewing parties and practices.

That first year we held three separate happenings, The Dating Game, Kingdom of Magical Extinctions and our first 24 hour Sewathon. All the events attempted to double as fundraisers and we raised some money but not enough to cover our entire budget. I left VNYB two years ago to start NERD Island and this year a past Vaudevillain, Jesse Engaard, also started another comic brigade with GoodTimers called the Rabble Rousers.

Phantasy Phorest Phundraiser:

This Tuesday November 9th, Vaudevillains New Years Brigade is hosting a fundraiser dance party at the Barbary in support of our performance in the 2011 Mummers Parade.

Please join Vaudevillains New Years Brigade for a night of super dancing fun times in support of their Phantasy Phorest performance in this year’s Mummers Parade.

Although being a Mummer is nearly free, materials for our workspace, float, and costumes cost several thousand dollars. With a little help from both new and old friends we hope to raise the necessary funds to continue our efforts for 2011 and beyond.

*There will be $1 PBRs and $3 well drinks until 11, so come early!*

We will also be selling raffle tickets for some awesome prize packages.
