The Homophones entertained the KFN crowd last week with dancing, drama (the good kind) and balloon theatrics. Thumbs up to the actual songs played as well. Barefoot Jason Ferraro danced surefooted on the…ugh…I am trying to sound like an actual concert review here…truth is I could feel a bit of Morrissey, Interpol and Calvin Johnson in the room as Jason performed and I liked it. I typically play the “sounds like” game when I try to describe a band’s sound. The Homophones sound like they are having fun. Like the balloons that surround them, their sound is uplifting. And that Jackie Gimbel is a vision.

Wolfbat Studio Presents: The Big Takeover Viking Ship: Friday, March 26th
A 26-foot Viking ship covered in prints will be at Crane Arts from 6pm to 8pm. The ship will be paraded at 8pm, destination to be determined (stay tuned for additional details).
I am planning on helping create sails with our mummer fabric Friday morning/afternoon and then parading with our fire capes and staffs. Contact me if you want to participate.

After many months of offline meditation, NERD Island is back to start scheming, sewing and dancing. This year we will attempt to incorporate flags, bikes, colorguard and over 100 members. Hahahaha. Four months from parade day is the time to dream big.
